Sadly, we find ourselves having to postpone the Sligo 2020 Summer conference in line with advice and regulations issued by UK Government (fully supported by the Northern Ireland Executive) and the Government of the Republic of Ireland, in response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
I hope you will join us in continuing to pray for a swift end to the pandemic, God’s healing for patients, God’s compassion for those grieving and God’s protection for health and social care staff across the island of Ireland and across the world.
The Board of Directors/ Trustees of New Wine Ireland has therefore made this difficult decision and agreed that we are postponing gathering together in Sligo until Sunday 11 – Friday 16 July 2021.
At the moment we are focussing on notifying all those who have already booked conference places and accommodation, as well as all who have applied for team places. If that’s you, you will receive an email from us over the next few days.
In the meantime – a few pieces of information for you:
We are making plans for significant Saturday gatherings across Ireland when we are allowed to meet again, starting in the autumn. We are looking at four days – one in Cork, one in Mullingar, one in Monaghan and one in Belfast and know that many will want to gather together and join us at these celebration days. All updates will be put up on our website as plans become clearer. We also plan to send out regular messages of encouragement and prayer
We are doing everything we can to connect with and support local church leaders and others in ministry – particularly by George Newell (Leadership and Mission Development Co-ordinator) who is available on the phone or email to any church leaders or others in ministry who want to chat or pray with someone during these difficult days. Contact him on George.email@example.com
We also want to thank all those who give financially to support New Wine Ireland through the year. We firmly believe that we now have greater opportunities than ever as people are seeking answers to life’s big questions and that as this crisis passes there will ever-increasing Kingdom opportunities for us all to grasp. We want to be ready to support local churches who will be re-imagining mission, ministry and church life – so please know that all donations we receive will be put to good use.
As you may also imagine there has already been some significant expenditure involved in setting up Sligo 2020, which will largely be covered by our reserves, but please do consider if you would be able to support us in the future as we prepare to grasp the new opportunities we believe that God will offer to us. We would be so grateful for any gifts – one-off donations or regular donations by standing order. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like further information.
Over these next weeks of our new normal may we never forget that we serve a God who longs to draw his children to himself, and let’s pray for many many new opportunities to share his love and goodness with everyone we meet in the coming days, weeks and months.
Board of Directors/ Trustees, New Wine Ireland.
