Part Time Youth Worker - Newry

Newry

St Patrick’s and St Mary’s Parishes of Newry City are seeking to appoint a part-time Youth Worker who is passionate about enabling youth work to flourish within a community and church context.  We have a vision to see young people meeting together through a relational style of youth work, addressing their personal needs and daily issues, and empowering them to move out to impact their local community for good and for God.  Click here to download the job description.

Willowfield Year Out

Willowfield Parish Church, East Belfast

Willowfield Parish Community Association and Willowfield Parish Church of Ireland operate side by side under common leadership with the purpose to realise God’s kingdom in our lives, the church, this community and the world. We exist to build congregations, teams and individuals who will encourage and support one another in taking God’s Kingdom of grace into our community and city. Our greatest interest is to see lives changed by the redeeming love and power of Jesus Christ.

What?
Each year Willowfield take on a team of people committed to a year of service, training and discipleship. Joining the Year Out Team provides opportunity to: intern as you join staff team in the daily & ongoing work of the church, train with the team as you broaden perspective, sharpen skills and discover gifts, and continually put what you learn into practice.

God has the best plans and purposes for us; and he is supremely interested in you. The Year Out Team is designed to be a launching base. A place and time to:

• Discover
• Experience
• Learn
• Pour out and be filled
• Grow
• Be inspired
• Be equipped
• Disciple and be discipled

The team are very much a community; living, working and learning together. Many of the ministries and programmes at Willowfield rely on the hard work and commitment of the team. Whether it be youth or children’s work, seniors or infants, chatting with people in the pubs or praying for people on the streets, you will be stretched and encouraged as you serve wholeheartedly, go deeper in your knowledge and understanding of the Word, and experience more and more the love of Christ.

Who?
This is an opportunity for people looking for a taste of full-time ministry, exploring options, and discovering what God may be calling you to, all the while investing in something bigger than yourself. YOT is ideal for students looking to take a year out before, during or after studies. But it is available to anyone 18 years old+ who is a hard worker and an eager leaner.

When?
The scheme runs in line with the academic year, extending into the summer term. The 2013 start date is 2 September, so if you’re interested request an application immediately.

Where?
Willowfield is located in the heart of East Belfast, Northern Ireland. The team work and live in this community. There are also several occasions throughout the year when the team work alongside other churches & organisations running events in different parts of the city and country.

Why?
Our aim is to help you discover God’s call on your life, realising his purpose and plan, and to equip you to walk that out. As a team, you will work together to build community and relationship with one another, spurring each other on to God’s best for your life. As you sow into the life of the church and community here, you also will be sown into. Under the umbrella of discipleship, we will work to discover and develop your gifts, skills and talents. We want to play to your strengths and help you realise the vision and passion within your own heart.
While your year here will indeed be within the capacity of full-time church/community work, ‘full-time ministry’ may not be what’s on your heart to do with the rest of your life. That’s ok! This scheme is designed to, yes, give people a realistic taste of full-time ministry, but is more importantly committed to coming alongside emerging leaders in the Kingdom, helping to build, strengthen and encourage them, creating well-rounded character in preparation for living lives radically devoted to Christ, loving Him wholeheartedly and serving Him unreservedly in whatever context is relevant to your calling- whether it be in church or office, locally or globally, university or the workplace.
In a way, this is anything but a year out. Rather a year actively devoted to revelation, preparation, equipping and action.

How Much?
Team members are asked to contribute £1,500 GBP per person for the year, due at the start of the course. This directly funds the running costs of the programme as well as team living expenses. While all funds are essentially paid back out to the members, we suggest you also raise your own additional pocket money for the year. Please contact us with any questions.

Individuals are also responsible for their own travel costs as well as any fees associated with required visas for those from outside of the UK & Ireland.
